Police investigate suspicious package near King and Yonge

Police closed off a section of the financial district Wednesday night to inspect a suspicious package, police said

King St. W. between Yonge and Bay Sts. was cordoned off by police after a passerby reported a suspicious package on the sidewalk just after 7:30 p.m., police said.

The emergency task force’s explosive disposal unit was called in and a robot dispatched to investigate if the package is dangerous, police told CP24.

Shuttle buses are operating in place of King St. streetcars and subway trains are bypassing King Station, according to the TTC.

As of 10:30 p.m., police could not provide a time frame on when the area would reopen.
